LED Light Therapy in Tarporley
Written by Angela, 12th December 2022

Today, more and more people are searching for natural, non-invasive and pain-free methods for looking and feeling good.
LED Light Therapy ticks all the boxes for this. It is a clinically proven, effective and safe treatment for hair loss, aging skin, acne, inflammation and a variety of pain conditions.
After carefully researching all the devices on the market, we used our many years of experience in the beauty sector to select Celluma.
Celluma is not only FDA approved, but also FDA cleared. This means that it is both a safe and effective skin treatment device delivering the claims that it makes.
Celluma Blue Light Therapy for Acne
Sometimes referred to as LLT, it is a great treatment option for acne, offering faster results than many acne treatments.
Whether it’s on your face, chest, back, shoulders or arms, the flexible shape of the Celluma means it can contour to your face or body to get close to the skin and give optimal results.
This ensures cellular performance on a microscopic level, skin cells are able to absorb even more light energy in less time, speeding up the acne bacteria elimination and skin healing process. Because of the ability to place the device close to the skin
How does light therapy work for acne?
The light therapy works by eliminating acne-causing bacteria deep beneath the skin’s surface.
Blue LED light, especially in combination with red light therapy, emits specific, clinically-proven wavelengths of light to instigate an all-natural effect in human tissue, killing acne-causing bacteria, decreasing inflammation, and improving skin tone, texture, and clarity from the inside out.
Blue and red LED light light-therapy is widely used as an effective option for the treatment of mild to moderate inflammation
Red Light for anti-ageing
Red light has been clinically proven to have an anti-ageing effect on the skin.
Whilst we can’t stop the clock of time ticking, we can certainly slow it down a bit.
LLT offers a ‘stand-alone’ treatment option for those clients wanting a completely natural, non-invasive answer to a more youthful skin. It also offers a boost to other anti-ageing treatments like vitamin-rich facials, skin needling (Rejuvapen), peels, and IPL/laser.
As we age the collagen in our skin depletes and treatments such as LLT that stimulate the fibroblast cells in our skin to produce more collagen is a good tool in our anti-aging toolbox.
Does Celluma hurt?
No it doesn’t! In fact it’s totally the opposite.
You are placed in a comfortable position and the device is contoured to your treatment area. It’s a very relaxing and comforting treatment, many clients drift off to sleep.
How does light therapy work in anti-ageing?
Celluma works in two ways to boost collagen production: the Krebs Cycle and Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP).
1. The Krebs cycle is what makes cellular energy inside your body. Light activation boosts the body’s natural Krebs Cycle which in turn assists in creating more ATP.
2. ATP is the energy currency of all the cells in your body. When your body has high enough ATP levels, then it has more energy to spend on regenerative processes such as collagen and elastin production – these are the proteins your body uses to heal itself.
In a nutshell … Light Therapy = Enhanced Krebs (energy) Cycle = Greater ATP Availability = More Collagen production.
Beyond collagen production we see other benefits including:
- Cell generation to replace old cells (mitosis)
- Reduction and prevention of cell death (apoptosis)
- Neurogenesis (new neurons)
- Development of new capillaries (angiogenesis)
- Increased blood flow
- Enhanced Nitric Oxide production

Best infra-red therapy for pain in Tarporley
Light therapy is an excellent tool to tackle outward aesthetic concerns such as aging and acne, but Celluma also offers the whole-body benefits that near-infrared light therapy provides go way beyond skin deep.
It’s a really useful addition to in our massage therapy work that we carry out at Sensoria.
How does infra-red therapy work for pain?
Infrared (IR) therapy, or “low-level light” therapy, uses proven, specific wavelengths to stimulate a natural response in human tissue that can increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, ease muscle pain, relieve joint stiffness, and enhance overall cell performance on a microscopic level. Infrared (IR) light therapy works by boosting cellular energy to encourage and enhance the body’s natural healing abilities.
When tissue is damaged, pain occurs. Human tissue can be compromised in a variety of ways; a sprained ankle, a surgical procedure that didn’t heal properly, or even an overly intense gym session can all cause bodily discomfort and emotional distress.
Pain can be short-term or long-term, and because it presents itself differently in every person, it can be extremely difficult to treat.
Celluma’s unique ability to contour closely to the affected area allows cells to absorb even more light energy to achieve a faster result.
Celluma can be used before, after or during your massage treatment to get optimum results.
Can everyone use light therapy?
Most people can use LLT, but it is not suitable for everyone.
It should not be used:
– over the breast or stomach of a breast-feeding or pregnant person.
- on children under the age of 12,
- anyone suffering from seizures or epilepsy,
- anyone taking cortisone injections or any steroid injections, or t
- anyone taking any photosensitive drugs.
How long is the treatment?
Each treatment takes up to 30 minutes, depending on whether you opt for a stand-alone treatment or if you incorporate it into other services.
Results can be seen very quickly, but for maximum results, 30 minute sessions are needed twice a week for several weeks.
Is light therapy safe?
There are little or no negative side effects from using light therapy devices, however we have chosen Celluma, which is a light therapy unit that is medically credentialed.
This means it has been tested for both safety and effectiveness. The unit we use is not only FDA approved but also FDA cleared.
Best Light Therapy Treatment
To get the best out of a light therapy treatment the device needs to be 2-10 Joules per centimetre squared of skin. This is why we have chosen a flexible device that sits close to the skin’s surface. The further away it is from the skin the less effective it will be.
At Sensoria Beauty, we also chosen a device that has a pulsed light action as clinical literature shows that delivering the light energy in a pulsed manner has been shown to enhance the cell’s ability to absorb more energy over the treatment period.
Which treatments can I have Celluma with?
Celluma can be used within the treatment time of a skin treatment, facial or massage. It can also be added on as a thirty minute service to most other treatments.
It is particularly beneficial after IPL/laser, microdermabrasion, skin needling and peels. Alternatively, it can be booked on its own as a thirty minute ‘stand alone’ treatment. Courses of Celluma are available at a discounted rate.
