6 skincare tips for glowing skin from sensoria

If we asked you, “how do you want your skin to look?”, most of you would say glowing. A dewy complexion is a sign of health and is often associated with youth – so it’s no surprise that it’s at the top of your skincare wishlist. However, with the recent cold wintering months, moisture-zapping heating and our ever-busy lives, sometimes glowing skin can feel hard to achieve.

In fact, one of the most common skin complaints we hear around this time of year is, “my skin is dull” – and in turn, that makes you feel dull. It’s easy to feel fed up when your skin isn’t looking its best. Yet when you achieve a bright complexion many of us feel transformed – with a renewed skin confidence that shines past traditional beauty standards.

So, this month at Sensoria, we wanted to delve into glowing skin – and explain how you can achieve it by following our 6 glowing skincare tips.

  1. Keep hydrated

We are starting this blog post with the simplest, easiest and most repeated advice in the skincare world. Glowing skin is hydrated skin – and there’s one sure way to do this: drinking plenty of water.

Why? Well, water is vital for skin cell hydration. It helps to flush toxins out – preventing inflammation, acne, darkness and wrinkles. And, this healthier skin is glowing skin.

  1. Exfoliate with a skin peel

It’s well known that manual exfoliation is great for retexturing your skin. By removing dulling and dead skin cells, you promote cell turnover – which reveals fresh new skin cells below.

However, have you ever considered a chemical peel? It may sound a little intimidating but the process is extremely safe. In fact, with manual exfoliation, there is a greater chance of ‘overdoing it’ – and causing your skin more harm than good. Whereas a chemical peel is carefully controlled – especially when carried out by a certified skincare professional, like our Dermalogica Experts.

So what are the glowing benefits of skin peels?

Charmaine Cooper, Education Manager for Dermalogica and The International Dermal Institute explains, “In as few as three treatments, peels can reduce the look of wrinkles and fine lines, smooth skin texture and even reduce the appearance of breakouts.”

In general, skin peels largely improve your overall skin’s health – helping you achieve a dewy youthful complexion.

Dermalogica ProPower Peel

At Sensoria, we offer a range of ProPower Peels to suit your unique skin type and concerns. However, the UltraBright Peel focuses specifically on achieving a glowing complexion. Using Lactic Acid, this peel brightens and hydrates – reducing the appearance of the early signs of ageing and helping to even skin tone.

This month we are offering you a free skin peel patch test – so you can feel confident a peel is right for you. Simply get in touch and we’ll arrange this for you.

Skin peels at home

We recommend a skin peel once every four to six weeks. However, we know this isn’t always practical. Therefore, we often recommend Dermalogica’s Rapid Reveal Peel kit. The at-home treatment has ingredients such as Lactic Acid, phytoactive AHA extracts and fermented plant enzymes.

All in all, it’s a maximum-strength exfoliant that safely delivers powerful results. With no downtime, you can expect to see glowing skin after the first three treatments. It is the strongest ‘at home’ peel Dermalogica has ever produced.

  1. Look out for key glow-enhancing ingredients

One of the top skincare ingredients for glowing skin has to be Vitamin C. As a rich antioxidant Vitamin C boosts your skin’s radiance and helps produce collagen while increasing cell turnover.

Another top dewy-skin ingredient is retinol, also known as Vitamin A. With regular use, retinol can solve a whole range of skin concerns.

Sometimes, it’s not just a case of just one “super” ingredient. In fact, it can be a combination of vital ingredients that makes the most powerful products.

For example, Dermalogica’s Phyto-Nature Firming Serum uses a combination of Antioxidant Moroccan Rockrose Extract and Madagascar Green Coffee Bean to visibly revitalise skin – and also decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  1. Wear SPF

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – wear SPF, rain or shine! So many skincare issues are caused by sun exposure. And, prevention of these issues is so much better than cure.

Look out for broad-spectrum protection – as it will guard you against both UVA & UVB rays.

Dermalogica’s Prisma Protect SPF30

One of our favourite products – this SPF does so much more than protect your skin. It harnesses ‘intelligent drone technology’ – which is activated by visible light to boost your skin’s luminosity. What’s more, it protects your skin against the dulling effects of pollution through the antioxidant ingredients.

  1. Invest in a photofacial

Did you know IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) isn’t just for hair removal? In fact, when it comes to skin rejuvenation, nothing reaches as deep as light. Over a course of regular treatments, you can truly achieve healthier skin – with a youthful appearance.

Photofacials work when pulses of light create heat in the tissue. This stimulates collagen production – giving you a fresher, smoother skin texture. This is why it’s also known as a ’photo facial’.

From sunspots to red veins, the Triple Collagen Booster Facial can treat various age-related skin concerns that disrupt your complexion. Learn more about photofacials here.

  1. Use a primer on your skin

You tend to use a primer to help makeup last longer – as they create an extra layer and smooth your skin’s surface. However, did you know that a primer can also add a sheer radiant tint to your skin?

In fact, Dermalogica’s SkinPerfect primer is a silky finish that can be worn even without makeup for a luminous, healthy and natural look. It includes powerful ingredients like Pearl Powder which adds a neutral tint – while also combining Soy Protein and Peptides to plump and firm.

Overall, skin glows as the ingredients combine to enhance your overall skin’s health, while also giving you a luminous finish.
