Get smooth! Have a professional bikini wax
Written by Angela, 29th January 2017
Ive been waxing for thirty three years – I get waxed myself, Ive taught waxing in colleges, Ive examined waxing treatments internationally. Basically Ive waxed so many clients that I have lost count. Whilst waxing is not a fun activity, let me tell you that there is nothing to fear from a professional bikini wax. So here I have put together my top tips for getting the most effective and pain-free wax.
Plan ahead. As with everything life planning is key to success. Good waxperts get booked up quickly and most painful waxing experiences are often due to lack of expertise and experience. Choose your waxpert carefully and book in advance. If you are hunting around for an appointment a day or so before your big event you will either be disappointed that you cant get an appointment or end up sore and bruised, unless you strike lucky with an appointment cancellation. You also need to plan as you will need to grow your hair at least 1/4 inch long in order for the hairs to come out effectively. Think about how much hair you want to have removed with wax – is it a regular bikini wax? A brief bikini wax? A brazilian? Or a hollywood? this enables your practitioner to book the right amount of time for you to get the results you want. Dont have your wax too close to your special occasion, especially if you havent been waxed before, as even the toughest of skins can look a little pink and bumpy after waxing. Dont have any massage or body treatments that treat the skin in the area that you are to have waxed, as super-hydrated skin can be soft and there is an increased risk of the top layer of skin being removed leaving sore patches.
Prepare. Exfoliate the area you are going to have waxed a day ahead of your appointment. You can do this with a salicylic based product or with an exfoliating mitt. This helps to lift the hairs and prepare for a more thorough wax. Take a shower the day of your wax as you wont be able to shower immediately.
And that’s all there is to it. Enjoy the results!
